For many, working from home has been a bliss - ability to maintain a job, to spend time with children, making sure children are getting the proper education needed for them, and able to have hearty home cooked meals with family. Laundry, doing the dishes, cleaning the floors, house chores, and gardening activities are all increased in addition to the work from home.
What most people don't realize, is that their posture is being impacted. Sitting for long periods of time, at the table, on the sofa, standing at the kitchen counter or bar area, laying on the bed with laptops, phones, and tablets are a few of the repetitive daily activities. You may have a desk but did you know the position of your computer or mouse can lead to a sore achy neck and back? You may even experience some arm or hand pain or pain into the legs.
Now take a flashback to when your mom used to say "sit with your back straight" at the dining table and how annoyed you were from that one statement.
As your local chiropractor, I have to remind my patients of the same. There is absolutely a direct correlation to increased neck pain and back pain with bad posture.
In addition, I discuss with my patients which muscles to strengthen, which exercises to perform, which area of the spine is being impacted, and mainly, to correct it with chiropractic manipulations. With a proper exam and assessment, the chiropractic care will be individualized to your conditions.
No more nerve pain, achy sore shoulders or sciatica with regular chiropractic visits. Some will also tell me their headaches have decreased.
Yes! Your posture is affected by your positioning.
